Cigar Box Altered with Masculine Touch

Hello Everyone

Antoinette here sharing this cigar box I altered for my adult Son. I bought a few cigar boxes from my local liquor store for 35cents each...what a great buy. I use some of them as storage boxes.

The hardest part was measuring the sides and cutting.

I edged the cut pieces with a black marker to give a cleaner edge.
I  put some Washi Tape on the black strips on put on each side.
I let my Son pick the paper...giving him four design papers to chose from. He is a minimalist so I knew I was going to have to stay simple but classy knowing it was something he would use everyday throwing his pocket change in .

I put black paper in front with a keyhole from Spare Parts by Paper Studios.
I placed the two chipboard Antique Car dies from Estate Collections by 3 Birds.
What encouraged me to make this for my Son was I had altered a cigar box that was his Dads when he was living.  My Son loved what I did with it as I converted it to be for me giving it a crackle effect, adding pearls, buttons, bling.  It became new special keepsake. You can take a look at it on this Post on my Blog. Hope you check it out for the awesome crackle formula I used with Elmer's glue.

Old Toy New Fun...Let's Wing It

Hello Everyone,

Antoinette here wanting to share with you some new fun I have been having with my McGill Embossing tools. I have used them to make my flower petals fancier and now I am using them to give my leafs and swirls more dimension. Everything seems to be given more life.

I mainly wanted to share with you these beautiful wings. I made them with the Big Sizzix Angel Wings diecut. I cut two out, embossed both with one of Anna Griffins new embossing folders called Bit of Paislee. She is now collaborating with Provocraft/Cuttlebug company.  What I did different to the top layer of the wing after Cuttlebug embossing...I gently McGill tool embossed the top layer wing. I think it looks gorgeous the way it lays with a sweet uplifted format. It looks like it is fixing to take off in flight. I don't see many cards using the Wing cut design...or maybe I have not looked enough...so I have been trying to use it many different ways. I hope you look at my Blog post 'Wings of a Diva' where I used corrugated cardboard, USArtQuest Mica Chips to fancy up and frame for myself.
I did use three different Cuttlebug Embossing folders on this card.
I took an easier way to share the tools I used  by taking a picture. I did some ink distressing, Martha Stewart glitter pen touches, petal crushing and shaping, On those pretty glitter blue swirl stickers by Pink Paislee I used 'baby powder' to take away the sticky and just added glue where I need to make them work how I wanted.

I hope you like my card and you are inspired to adventure on your take of it.  These are...some of my favorite colors...you might have guessed checking out my cards that I put a lot of turquoise and blue in my cards.

I hope you come back and visit me...I have some other old toys with new uses I want to share.
And don't forget to come visit me at 'Twist of Faith" Card Challenge for each weeks challenge where I am blessed to be on the Design Team. There are some great prizes by wonderful Artist who transform their whimsical creations for us into Digi's.

Splish, Splash...A Citrus Bath

Hello Everyone,

Having some fun....with House-Mouse Design Stamps.  Thought this would be great fun for the summer the stamp called 'Splish, Splash...A Citrus Bath/HMUR1060'.  How about a nice cold iced glass of lemonade...in Mudpie's case a citrus bath...heeeee
------------------------------------
This cute stamp also brought some memories of my lemonade(alcohol) drinks that were not so good. I have come...to enjoy a new season in my life journey with wonderful Splish, Splash drinks in the Holy Word of God. I have found those daily splishes and splashes into the word and fellowship with God make me natural high, give me joy beyond my understanding, drink that quenches my desire for those ungodly things as I draw closer to him and his grace and loving-kindness. He keeps my head above water. And the scripture that blesses me and causes me to praise God is:
Psalm 86:7 (NIV)In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me.

Hope you enjoy my card and turn your lemons in life to lemonade.  God has to continually put the sugar in mine...heeee and its getting sweeter.

I am submitting this to:
Stamp and Create - Summer Fun
Melonheadz Friends - Summer
2Sisters Challenge #149 - Summer Fun

Hope you got some inspiration out of my card and join me on the weekly challenges at 'Twist of Faith' a family friendly blog, where I am on the Design Team.

Angels Watching Over You...

Hello Everyone,

I am here today sharing a very special card I made for one of my Cousin's. She is going through some faith shaking times as she and the doctors try to clear her body from breast cancer. We got good news this past Wednesday that she is clear of cancer through surgery but will still have to take radiation.

Sometimes it is so hard when we see people or someone you love go through physical or any type of trying time. It's been a heartache for me I can't imagine her husband and children. It soothes my spirit to know she trusts God to get her through.  And I am glad we have found prayer, faith and God's word to  be our greatest anchors on keeping sane, hanging strong and knowing when we are weak God will be our strength.
------------------------------------

Psalm 91:11
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways

I used Sizzix Bigz Die - Angel Wings , one of Anna Griffins new Cricut Cuttlebug Treillage embossing folders to emboss the wings, Martha Stewarts Glow in the Dark Glitter on the first layer of embossed wings. I made it a 3D feathered layering effect on the wings. For the center bodice I placed the wings on the design paper to get the desired size woman's figure and manually cut it out.
----------------------------------
It was all quite easy. The fun part would be making many of these with different beautiful design papers.  The stamp 'God Loves You' was ordered on-line from JoAnn Fabrics which I stamped on the Design Paper Collection by Martha Stewart.

I hope you love this card as much as I do and make your version of it to bless someone letting them know you are praying for them...or  that you Care.
Until next times this Shabby Chic Grannie is out.

Fun Play with House-Mouse Critter

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited about sharing my finding of the Blog, House-Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge. I love those precious critters. And what better way to challenge my stamping creativity by receiving and sharing inspiration with fellow fans, followers of the House-Mouse & Friends Blog Challenge and their Design Team. Perfect timing because I just bought a few of their stamps to add to my collection. This being one of them.

With this card project I used what is called 3D Paper Piece Design a stamped image. I am delightfully learning this type of Paper Piecing design by a spectacular Women who has been doing this for several years.  I have fallen in love with the beautiful details it gives along with adding your own special touches. I am nowhere near perfect but and loving the process and the challenge.

Let me introduce Designer Mariska van de Veer  the inspiration to helping me take this new step to creativity. She is totally awesome in how she brings her work to life. I have attached her blog here so you can visit her amazing work. She also has tutorials to her creativity.  And that was all I needed to jump in and start my learning process.

Don't laugh at my work once your jaw drops after seeing Mariska's work. I am telling you her work are pieces of wonderful whimsical art. If I can only be a tenth of that I would be happy so here is my piece.

Pattern and Texture

Hi Everyone,
I love the mixture of patterns from embossing to the patterns on the paper.

Embellishments like bling, buttons and Martha Stewart Heirloom Clay Molds
I love making cards and some of my favorite things to give them is texture by using embossing folders to embossing tools to give the flower petals and leaves dimension, using different animal print patterns together, bling, buttons and fun embellishments that I get to make by hand like the Martha Stewart Heirloom clay mold forms/circle frame. I love making my own flowers I get pleasure in that I get to bend ,squash, use embossing tools to form its beautiful shape.
This card I am sharing will be for one of my dear friends. Also it finally hit me I have not shown you how I decorate the inside of my cards. And today this is how this one was decorated.
I love giving that extra special touch to the inside of my cards too.
These are some of the tools I used to make the embellishments. The ribbons are made of fabric one being burlap. As you can see on the card I glued the zebra pattern ribbon on top of the burlap. It gave such a prettier setting and texture on the card since I did not use any other paper for a background. I did emboss the card with one of Anna Griffins new Cuttlebug Embossing folders.
I am submitting this card to several Blog Challenges:

Template & Diecuts Fun

Hi Everyone...
I made this particular card to join challenge #40 Templates and Die cuts held by Twist of Faith. I used the wonderful Spellbinders Nestabilities-Majestic Elements-S5-161. They are so beautiful and come in a set of 7 templates. I used several from the same package to make this card. One to cut the special card shape, and three other templates to cut the different layers upon the card. The white leaf die pattern is from Sizzix which I then embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. The flowers were made with a combination of Martha Stewart hand die cut punch along with Recollections small flower die cut punch for the center. I used white hemp as ribbon then fancied up the small buttons with pearls. I also distressed the edges of the card with pink ink.

This card is being submitted to: Twist of Faith Challenge #40 Templates & Die Cuts

I am having such a fun time joining these weekly challenges...they are so helpful in getting me out of my comfort zone and using some of my fun crafty tools  on new designs. --On another note Sometimes its the challenges in life that bring us to into better knowledge & exciting adventures.--After all...I claim God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ to be at my side...so all things are possible who believe in Him.

Let's Have Tea

Hi Everyone,

Antoinette here...your Frugal Grannie.
I have been Blog hopping and found this fun and esquisite 'The Shabby Tea Room' weekly challenge.

This week they are giving you a picture for color inspiration as shown here adding flowers and a tea theme.  It's the first time I try this type of challenge.  I love the shabby chic look of this setting so decided to join in for Tea as I am resting.  I put my creative heart to work.  I have been physically down this past weekend and now week but still try to sneak in a short playtime in my craftroom while screnging and screeching at moments trying to the  manage pain, discomfort and overcome by filling my heart with positive thoughts and creativity.
---------------
I used Martha Stewart-Vintage Doilie handheld die to fancy cut the edges. Spellbinder die to cut the shape once I used Hero Arts stamp/Tea Time Silhoutte. The pretty Tea TIME stamp is by Hot Off the Press. I used Ranger Distress Crackle paint/color Picket Fence on the white card stock edges. The pattern paper is K & Company which I distressed using my new found love distressing solution--white shoe polish. The flower under the white button is the Spellbinders Poinsettia die.
This card was created with the inspiration from 'The Shabby Tea Room' _Challenge #169_Lets Have Tea and It was also made with thoughtful loving care for a friend they brought to mind that I miss. I know she loves tea so I am going to be mailing it to her.
----------------
I also have to share...this Shabby Chic style came up at the right time. My Birthday is this Saturday and I am happy to say this Grannie is going to be the big 60 years old...and going to add to my repartee  Shabby Chic to describe this Frugal Grannie.  To top it off during my Blog Hopping and finding the Card Mania Blog they gave the definition of Shabby Chic from  Wikipedia - worn or bleached out pastel colours (white, light pink, sky blue, ecru, light grey, etc), anything with roses in the design, lace, pearls, basically anything that gives the feeling of antique, feminine and romantic.  And I have to say  I have bleached hair, wear those colors, love lace and pearls and according to my children I do give the feeling of antique...haaaaa as well as being told I am very feminine and a romantic. LOL.

Submitting this card to the following Challenges:
-----------------------
I hope you enjoyed walking with me in this fun challenge.  What brings me a smile as...I type this is it really was to help overcome the challenge of my horrific pain.  I finally got updated medication Monday night from my Neurologist to calm the pain.

Until next time this Frugal Grannie is out.

Clean and Simple

I used the Big Sizzix  Wing Die and embossed it with one of Anna Griffin Cuttlebug folders. I tried something different with the wings. I make it look dimensional. On one end I put one layer of sticky circles and the other two so that it would look like it was in flight. The ribbon is actually from my stash of recycle from a purchase...love when I can use them.

Hi Everyone,

I found a fun new Blog  called Twist of Faith Card Challenges it runs weekly and encourages you to
share your uplifting, healing, inspirational and scriptural card creations.  It is right up my alley. And I decided to jump in with both feet on this weeks challenge 'Clean and Simple'.  And to tell you the truth I found it to be a tough challenge on the part of making a clean card. I am not sure why more times than less I enjoy lots of pretties on my card but not everybody does and I need to take note and work on that because I have a few friends that I give note cards or a package of mixed occasion cards as gifts and they are not into all those added emblishments.  So if they are giving them away it is not really in their taste for giving.  This blue card is actually the second card. I am going to show you the other one which is what I consider clean but when I showed it to my Grand Daughter she said the blue one is considered clean and simple to her. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks that is an old myth. This new challenge has and is going to help me learn how to monitor some of my card making. And perfect my way of doing clean and simple  which is a beautiful thing. Some things are meant to be learned through process and its turning out to be a good thing for me.

Submitted to: Challenge #39 Clean and Simple/Twist of Faith Challenge
Here is the first card I made and what I considered Clean and simple and is Not I believe its considered monochromatic in the card crafting world.

This card was created with love and will be perfect to submit to the
Blog Created with Love Challenges. In creating I used one of Anna Griffins Cuttlebug embossing folders, put some lace ribbon then a line of bling. I really loved making this card it was so quick and simple.
