Non Traditional Christmas Card
Happy Holidays...
Sharing with you one of my many favorite non-traditional Christmas cards I made this year using one of my favorite Wee Stamps for Whimsy Stamps called Amy. I consider her my little prissy Christmas cowgirl bearing gifts of love from the heart to brighten our Christmas season this year. I love that she can be used to brighten someone's birthday, bring get well wishes, thinking of you, thank you and more.
I had fun using different dry embossing folders by Sizzix for the fuzzy cut layered Christmas tree and Cuttlebug/Anna Griffin'-Snow Flurry folder for the aqua blue core'dinations paper. Adding a fun double layer of Blooming Vine by Memory Box with decorative elements of Spellbinders Nestabilities Fleur De Lis Rectangles, Floral Doily Motifs and Circles. For coloring I used Spectrum Noir markers and Faber-Castell pencils.

Let the Creativity Begin - Anything Goes Challenge #82
Hello Everyone,
It is time to start Challenge #82 with the recipe Anything Goes at DigiStamps4Joy going on for the
next four weeks. The theme was chosen by our own DigiStamps4Joy Leader and Owner Margy. I don't know about you but "Anything Goes' is perfect timing with busy schedules during the holidays. Challenge #82 - Anything Goes begins Wednesday, December 11th and goes through Tuesday, January 8th.
I made my card especially for you my Friends and Followers. I wanted my card to send you Happy Thoughts and Well wishes for a Merry Christmas. I used two images from the DigiStamps4Joy Store one the sweet image of Mini Misteri 'Apple Basket' and the second is Christmas Holly . I used a fun array of different Spellbinder Nestabilities: Radiant Rectangles, Labels One, Grand LF-168 and Timeless Rectangle. To give my card some texture I also used a couple of Anna Griffin/Cuttlebug dry embossing folders called Circular Grid and Dancing Holly(on the red Dpaper). I also used three different Cuttlebug tag dies with the star, tree and gift. I just shortened and cut off the blank space to showcase the images. For coloring I used Spectrum Noir markers. Here is a savings tip I must share with you...if you are looking for the newer along with the other Spellbinder dies they have been 40% off at JoAnn Fabrics Online sometimes you can even catch at 50% off (sharing the savings) along with catching a special free shipping.
I thoroughly enjoyed showcasing traditional Christmas Colors of Red and Green with this card. I also enjoy using non-traditional colors...stores have so many pretty colors and patterned designs decorated on ornaments and trees. I would even love to do a cheetah or animal print next year. I might still be able to get one in this year if I stay focused. There are so many ideas rolling in my heart to do. Well, I hope you enjoyed my card and you are inspired to jump in our Challenge this round. I would love to come by and visit you.
I would like to enter this card into the following challenges where I am also a follower.
Cuttlebug Mania - Anything Goes - Christmas
Creatalicious #57 - Christmas Time
Twist of Faith #67 - Traditional Christmas

New Release Sunday with a touch of Steampunk
Hello Everyone...
It is New Release Sunday at the DigiStamps4Joy Store. Today I am playing with one of several images being released called 'Steampunk Tree' created by Margy. I was so excited when I saw Margy's design of this 'Steampunk Tree'. The 'Happy Holiday' round sentiment is also a creation by Margy available in the Store called 'Bottle Cap Inserts'. It was fun pulling out my sprocket dies and embossing folders. I hope you go by the Store to see all the new images released today and the Blog to check out what the DigiStamps4Joy Design Team did with their creativity with these. The girls did a fabulous job with the 'Steampunk Tree'.
I want to take this time of sharing with you some of the techniques, where froms and embellishments I used. I finally broke down and bought me some Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection ColorCore cardstock paper. Lately, I seem to be hooked on JoAnn Fabrics wonderful Online sales... taking advantage of their no shipping fee and 40 and 50% Online Only sales. They had all Tim Holtz items 50% off so I took advantage of the deal since I have been wanting this paper because I love to use my embossing folders. On this particular card this beautiful blue is the Tim Holtz Kraft-Core paper where I used my Cuttlebug embossing folder. It is actually a 12 by 3 folder I just worked it to emboss as a whole by just flipping the paper. I also ink embossed the design with clear embossing powder to give it a sheen and the edge of the tree diecut with Bronze Zink embossing powder. The funny looking sprinkes on the background of the Steampunk Tree is a new type embossing powder I found by Stampendous called Frantage. This Frantage embossing powder is fabulous...and came in a package of Shabby Blue, Aged Silver which is what I used , Shabby Pink and Shabby white. I bought it at JoAnn Fabrics store with a 40% coupon. (FYI...I have also seen it 40% off on their Online store. The diecut sprockets are Sizzix Big and I love that I learned how to use these dies on my Cuttlebug. I added a metal sprocket onto the blue string from Hobby Lobby a string of jewelry charms that were 50% at one time. The bling and brads are by Recollection.
I had to come back with a tweak to my card. My physical being gets exhausted when I over exert myself with outdoor activities so I did not get to finish this touch I really wanted to add to my card before submitting to my DigiStamps4Joy Team. So here goes take a new look...I wanted to add more Sizzix gears to the top edge of my card.
Until next time this Frugal Grannie is out...Hugs

In the Hustle and Bustle
Image: Faythe Flies by Tiddly Inks |
Happy Holidays Everyone,
The months and days seem to be passing quickly it is already December 2nd with Christmas coming around the corner. I love this time of year...I enjoy the idea and pleasure of decorations to be placed, stockings to be hung and gifts to be bought for loved ones. But the real truth of the season can get one side tracked of the real reason for celebrating this season--the birth of Jesus Christ. Thanksgiving and Christmas mean so much more to me now that I can look back and recognize God through his Son Jesus Christ getting me through rough times. In my case some have been financially, feeling rejected by family or so-called friends or just feeling unloved and lonely. I am so grateful God has kept his hand and angels around me. His loving-kindness and grace draw me closer as I see more and more how his Love for me (and you) is unconditional. He still loves me through my wrong choices, selfish ways when I get caught up in the things of this world. I have come to long to share his unconditional love he has shown and given me as I walk in my life journey wanting to be a shining light for Him. He is the Reason for the Season and is there all along in our life longing for us to recognize he is there for us, with us longing to get us through with His nuggets of love and wisdom left in his Holy Word-the Bible.
Jeremiah 29: 11-14
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord," plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the Lord, "and will bring you back from captivity . I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the Lord, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."
I hope you enjoyed my Christmas card from another one of my favorite Designer/Illustrators Christy Croll of Tiddly Inks Acyrlic and Digital Stamps.

Jingle Bells...Noel...Seasons Greetings
Hello Everyone,
Sharing a Christmas card made with some of my favorite digital images. I wish I could say I came up with the ornament and design idea myself but I saw it done on Pinterest and tweaked it giving it dimension and using what I had. The greenery is a die from Spellbinders/Foilage. The ornament digital image is called Christmas Bauble and was designed by Janlee available in the DigiStamps4Joy Store. The background called Christmas Paper was created by Margy also from DigiStamps4Joy.
I fell in love with the 'Christmas Bauble' because the design reminds me of zentangle/doodle art and the 'Christmas paper' has a lot of great sentiments tickling those enjoyable Christmas pastimes. I remember when my Son was about 5 years old I made him a Christmas stocking using the hook loop technique but what makes it even more special is my Dad did the stocking backing. I still have it and fill it for him when he comes over for Christmas and he is 34 years old...what can I say..he is my only child and still enjoys it...of course I fill one for his wife too. I love playing Christmas songs like Noel and Silent Night filling the house with joyous Christmas spirit celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
John 1:1-4
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made: without him nothing was made that has been made. I him was life, and that life was the light of men.
+++++
On creating my card using the Christmas Paper I new I wanted to glitter it and dry emboss it with one of Anna Griffin Holly Christmas folders. After fuzzy cutting the Christmas Bauble out I went ahead and used my embossing tools to give it dimension. I love the way it pops out of the card nicely adding the greenery and hemp string. I distressed the card edges with scissors and inked. I colored the bauble with Spectrum Noir.
As a Design Team Member of DigiStamps4Joy...I would also like to personally invite you to join in
the bi-weekly challenge#81 -Distressing. The Challenge runs from November 26 to December 11, 2013. Come on and join the fun....time to share and show off those distressing techniques.
